Travel Guide: Planning A Last Minute Labor Day Getaway

As August slowly comes to a close, the dog days of summer are fading away but summer's last hoorah is just around the corner. I'm talking about Labor day of course!! A glorious 3 day weekend when cities turn into ghost towns, while everyone jets off for one last summer getaway. I gave you my full list of vacation packing tips a few weeks ago, but if you are planning a trip over the upcoming Labor Day weekend, this guide is for you.

TUNICS

Even if your plans are to lay on the beach or a dock all weekend, you will still need a few items that aren't waterproof. Tunics are great because they're light weight, and can be easily thrown on over your swimsuit. When going to dinner, just add a pair of shorts and you are good to go! Trust me, when looking back on pictures you are going to be very glad you chose a cute tunic over an old sorority tank. Alicia's outfit is the perfect casual look for a weekend away.

BREEZY WHITE DRESSES

When packing for a a trip, my motto is always less is more. And because I don't want to have to worry about matching tops with bottoms, I always pack tons of lightweight dresses that I can easily throw on. They work for everything from running around a beach town to a water-side dinner with your sweetie. Courtney's dress is great for so many vacation activities - just switch shoes and you are all set!

ROMPERS

While very similar to a dress, rompers are a little more practical if your trip will involve activities beyond casually strolling in and out of boutiques. No one needs to be caught in a dress during a vespa adventure! Christina's colorful romper has the same packing ease of a dress, but with the added versatility needed for your weekend's adventures.

LACE LACE LACE

I love bringing lace with me on trips. It doesn't wrinkle quite as easily as other fabrics, and it can hide unexpected stains with much more ease. As an added bonus, lace always photographs well and brings a feminine touch to whatever you style it with. Lauren's look is right on point in two of my last minute vacation must haves: lace and dresses!
