Trend Report: Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week not only marked the last of the runway shows for 2015, but it also had the final say on what to expect for next spring. Per usual, Paris seemed to dominate the other fashion cities in creating and defining how the SS16 season will ultimately be styled.

Take a look at my runway recap of next season's hottest colors, silhouettes and accessories. I know several long months of cold weather lay between us and the warm breeze of Spring, but I for one am already preparing my closet!!

THE PLEAT LIFE

Spring is typically reserved for expressing your femininity, and SS16 will be no exception with all of the flirty pleats. Start with a simple outfit (meaning stay away from patterns or mixing this with other trends) and pick one pleated piece. Take Jessie's outfit below as a model, and pair a pleated top with a structured jacket and pant. This is the perfect way to take pleats from the runway to everyday!!

Check out these collections for more pleat inspiration: Valentino, Stella McCartneyAnthony Vaccarello, Vionnet, and Mugler.

DELICATE TRANSPARENCIES

See-through fabrics are all about sensuality and romance, and this year PFW reaffirmed the transparent trend's current supremacy. Lace and macramé were all over the runways, reminding us of just how delicate of a season Spring can be.

My Tip: Dig through your mother or grandmother's closet to find some fabulous, lace pieces. If vintage is not really your style, mix the sheer fabric with something more modern from your own closet. The beautiful thing is that lace can be romantic like Valentino, cool like Stella McCartney or bohemian like Balenciaga. And if you live in an area where a transparent top might not be the most practical look for March, check out Vision of Vogue's post for pointers on how to layer your winter essentials with spring delicates.

WE LOVE ROCK’N’ROLL

The 70's and 90's tend to be fashion's go-to for inspiration, but somewhere in Paris the 80's crept back onto the runways. Looks that were clearly inspired by this flourishing rock period adorned multiple runways. Picture a glam David Bowie, but with a modern twist.

Check out Haider Ackermann, Alexander McQueen, and Isabel Marant to see this trend's runway debut. Jenny's look totally screams schoolgirl by day, rock goddess by night. I love!!!
