Style Guide: 4 New Ways To Style The LBD

Last week we talked how and when to wear all-white, so this week we are heading in the opposite end of the spectrum and talking about new ways to style the LBD. I know for a fact that every woman's wardrobe includes at least one little black dress. And because it's so easy to wear, I find myself styling mine the same way over and over again. Today I am giving you (and me) several new ways to mix up this wardrobe staple!

COLORFUL AND PRINTED JACKETS

Summer is approaching, so to avoid an all-black look opt for a splash of color. My personal favorite way to add a pop to a LBD is bright-colored jackets. Keep in mind that as the hue of your jacket gets more saturated, the more attention you will attract. Printed details also add freshness to an outfit, and bring much needed fun to a daytime black dress. Jenna's look is a definite head-tuner!!

DENIM SHIRTS AND JACKETS

I love pairing casual and dressy pieces together. I know everyone has, or should have, at least one denim jacket in their closet, so try throwing it on over a little black dress. For daily wear, top it over a casual work dress. For those of you going to a more formal event, try wearing a denim jacket over your dress instead of a blazer. Sally gives us the perfect example of how to pull this off below!

SNEAKERS

When we say "black dress," we typically think of an important event, cocktails, and skyhigh heels. Today the black dress can be worn with so many different styles that sneakers are a definite shoe option. I love how Courtney paired leather with her sneakers...very trendy!

METALLIC BELTS

This season, metallic details are on the rise as a key element to upgrade any outfit. A metallic belt over your favorite LBD keeps your look chic, and because the belt serves as another neutral this duo can easily be accessorized with pops of color. Tierney is ready for anything, from date night to a formal wedding!

Coco Chanel believed that a black dress was one of the hardest pieces to wear, and I agree! Finding the right combination of accessories to maintain your LBD's effortless elegance can definitely be a challenge. I hope these 4 tips inspired you to change up the way you wear this classic dress!
