We're starting to see some hints of warmer weather, so I figured it's as good a time as any to start talking about hot, spring-time trends. From lace and ruffles, to layers and unconventional fabrics, this spring is all about texture.
We've got looks that are going strong from last year (hello bohemia), some that are popping up after a brief absence, and still others that are shiny and new. Whatever part of the fashion cycle, there is surely a trend to suit your style once the season fully heats up!
BOHEMIAN ELEMENTS
Although boho-chic is not new to the fashion scene, this year's boho is all about separates. Flare jeans are the new skinny, and flow tops are the new maxi dress.
My favorite aspect of this style is how romantic and liberating it can be. Boho is an easy way to look chic and modern without the toughness of minimalism. Add some free-flowing elements to your look this spring and you are sure to be a shaman of style! Liz’s look is a perfectly balanced example for those of you who still aren’t sold on bohemian elements.

RUFFLES, RUFFLES, RUFFLES
Playful and dramatic, ruffles will be one of the strongest trends in 2016. Don’t think of your typical, girly ruffles attached to frilly dresses. I’m talking chic ruffled hems or attachés on structured dresses and skirts. Jenna’s dress is the perfect example of how to wear ruffles in a chic and modern way!!

NEW TEXTURES
Among my favorite trends to emerge this year is unconventional fabrics with metallic and shiny textures. Designers have fully embraced this trend, creating retro looks that are modern and colorful! If you feel intimidated by the shine, you can easily start small with a pair of metallic shoes or a statement bag. For those of you adventurous enough to try this look full-on, I recommend gaining some inspiration from Jenny and this beautiful display of Bottega Louie confections.

TOTE BAGS
Tote bags have clearly been around the block, but they did take a slight reprieve in favor of mini bags over the past few seasons. Well, my fashion friends, I am pleased to announce that the tote is back! It's back, however, with a slight change.
New silhouettes have shorter, top handles instead of the longer shoulder straps you typically see on a tote bag. A structured silhouette is timeless, and will never fail you, regardless of the context in which you wear them. Courtney’s casual look is the perfect example of how a large bag can work for any occasion!
