Handbag Design of The Week - Jet Setting Style From Anya Hindmarch to Mel Boteri

The Handbag Dilemma - For years, Jet Senters Aviation CEO and Founder, Lisa Senters McDermott had been carrying around a canvas-printed tote bag by Anya Hindmarch that featured an image of a happy family exiting their private jet.  She had grown quite fond of this bag, which was in a way very symbolic of her career in the mostly male-dominated world of private aviation. But as Lisa's reputation continued to grow as one of the countries leading experts in her field, she needed a handbag that was a bit more representative of her expertise and professionalism.

The Inspiration - When meeting with her VIP clients, it is vital for Lisa to make a great first impression so that they feel at ease and confident that they will receive the best inflight experience possible. So while Lisa did love the printed image on her original Anya Hindmarch tote, she needed something a bit more sophisticated and structured. It was important to incorporate blue and white - JSA's company colors - into the design, but Lisa also loved the idea of a pop of color. And as "the gold standard in aviation" it only seemed appropriate to make the bag's hardware equally gold.

The Sketches - The design went through several iterations, but the final sketch was a perfect balance of classic style with a modern twist.  Featuring a custom-branded hardware plate on the front flap along with a brand plate hangtag, there is no hesitation that this is a Jet Senters Aviation handbag.  And because it is always important to express your unique personality and style, Lisa got her pop of color in the custom, hot-pink suede lining.

The Final Product: With custom pieces including the leather, hardware, and lining sourced from around the world (only appropriate for a jet-setting bag) and production in Portugal, the entire process took approximately 12 weeks from final sketch to finished product. The bag, now a part of JSA's corporate branding, can be easily duplicated for Lisa or her most loyal VIP clients.

And we think this post by Lisa on Facebook says it all!!
